Trans people have always existed—across cultures, continents, and centuries. Yet historically, trans lives have often been made invisible, pathologized, or actively suppressed.

No cuts to democracy work! Over 200 projects that protect and strengthen our democracy are at risk of being shut down.

A health crisis in our community – what can be done! In our previous article we highlighted that trans, inter, agender and nonbinary (tian*) people experience higher rates of health problems. However, this situation is not inevitable.

Are queer people more likely to be ill? Many studies show: yes - but the reason is not their identity. Discrimination, violence, structural barriers and lack of awareness in healthcare systems create stress and reduce access to care. The result: Many people in our communities avoid medical treatment or preventive check-ups.

The Association of Scientific Medical Societies published an update to the previously valid „S2k Guideline on Variations of Sex Development“ in July 2025. As TIAM, we, along with many others, support the statement by TrIQ e.V., which identifies the concerning setbacks in the update.

The Trans Day of Remembrance* (TDoR), observed annually on November 20th, is a worldwide day of remembrance for those who have lost their lives due to hatred, intolerance, and rejection of trans people.

Albania has achieved a historic victory for equality and human rights. The Parliament has passed the Gender Equality Law, whose definition aligns with the Istanbul Convention and, most importantly, retains Article 6, which protects against discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

Lili Elbe passed away in 1931 and was laid to rest in a cemetery in Dresden. Her grave stands as an important landmark in LGBTQIA+ history. As TIAM we took responsibility for the maintenance of the grave.
