Public Statement on the AfD Parliamentary Group’s Draft Bill in the Thuringian State Parliament

We are deeply concerned by the drafted bill introduced by the AfD parliamentary group in the Thuringian State Parliament on March 16, 2026. The proposal seeks the systematic dismantling of equality policies in the Free State of Thuringia.

With this statement, we address all members of the democratic parliamentary groups, as well as the President of the State Parliament, and call for a clear and unequivocal rejection of this initiative.

The abolition of equality policies does not constitute progress. On the contrary, it represents a significant step backwards—one that raises serious constitutional concerns, conflicts with European legal standards, and undermines fundamental human rights. It is a direction we, as a society, neither can nor should accept.
