Intersex Awareness Day

Today is Intersex Awareness Day –
a day to raise awareness about the lived realities of intersex people!
In the coming days, we’d like to raise awareness on our Instagram profile about the concerns of intersex people. Follow us: tiam_ev
Why raise awareness?
Inter* organizations demand – not just today:
- An end to invisibility
- The right to bodily autonomy
- An end to non-consensual medical interventions
We need a society that recognizes and respects the diversity of human bodies!
Why October 26?
On October 26, 1996, the first public protest by intersex people took place:
Inter* activists wanted to speak at a conference in Boston – but were denied entry.
Instead, they held a demonstration outside.

The history – and the road ahead
The 1996 protest was just the beginning.
Despite some progress, much work remains to ensure bodily autonomy, legal equality, and social recognition for inter* people.
Let’s work together for greater visibility!
