World Refugee Day

On World Refugee Day, we want to point out that displacementis not an abstract concept — it has many faces, stories, and identities withinour community.
The stories of queer refugees are stories of resistance, courage, and self-determination.
At the same time, they are marked by violence, state persecution, medical discrimination, and social exclusion — both in theircountries of origin and in Germany.
This makes it all the more important that independent projects and counseling services exist.
On World Refugee Day, we demand:
• Safe and legalescape routes
• Asylum proceduresthat take gender diversity seriously and protect it
• Access to healthcare without discrimination, including access to gender-affirming care
• Safe housing for trans, intersex, and non-binary people in the asylum process
• Self-determination regarding place of residence, financial benefits, and an immediate work permit
• Long-term support for independent asylum counseling services and projects for queer refugees, such as the Queer Refugees Network
