"Dear Diva" - Workshop about self-written texts by trans, inter, and nonbinary people during NS

What self-written texts by TIN* individuals from the time of Nazi Germany can be found in historical records? What are they about? What did these individuals experience, and how did they describe their experiences in their own words? In what contexts were these texts written? Together, we will read and examine selected historical texts and explore these questions. In doing so, we will also critically examine how historical sources can be interpreted, where contemporary terminology reaches its limits, and what gaps the historical record has left behind. The workshop focuses on the perspectives of historical TIN* individuals: their experiences, their self-descriptions, and their relationships within the context of the violent fascist state.

Jako Wende, a non-binary endo trans* person, conducts research on the persecution of trans*, inter*, and/or gender-nonconforming people during the Nazi era. In the process, Jako continually discovers new individuals who have not been included in the existing culture of remembrance.
