Event-Series We Care: Raqs Sharqi (arabic oriental dance)

In this workshop, we are going to take you with us on a journey through the fabulous world of Raqs Sharqi (oriental dance). Originated in Egypt, practiced and taught in the arab world and today also internationally, Raqs sharqi is the expression of finding joy in our own body and expressing it in charming, and sometimes extravagant moves and gestures.
Rami and Rasheed (Tafida and Rashida) are going to be your guides through this journey, two queer syrian performers who share the love of oriental dance and performence art. We are going to take you step by step through the most fundamental moves in Raqs Sharqi and break them down to you so you too can join this gorgeous world.
