Dani d’Emilia

Dani d’Emilia is a non-binary transfeminist artist and educator working in the fields of performance, visual art, devised theatre, radical pedagogy and social justice. She is particularly interested in embodied political-affective practices that merge artistic, activist and spiritual realms, and has been developing a vast body of work around the concept-practice of
Radical Tenderness, a mode of political-poetic resistance and attunement. Dani’s work explores the co-production of critical knowledge and political imagination through languages that go beyond rational and discursive realms. Her practices are rooted in performance-pedagogy (performance practice as a pedagogical process of unlearning) and are largely informed by transfeminism (intersectional and trans inclusive feminism) and decoloniality (interrogating colonial legacies on our bodies and subjectivities). Dani is a member of the collectives Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures and ANDlab – Research Centre for Art-Thinking & Politics of Togetherness. She is also a co-founder of the immersive theatre company Living Structures and was a core member of the performance collectives La Pocha Nostra and the duo Proyecto Inmiscuir.
